The American Revolution was a time when the British colonists in America
rebelled against the rule of Great Britain. There were many battles fought and
colonies gained their freedom and became the independent country of the
United States. The American Revolution raged from April 19, 1775 to
September 3, 1783. There were many people killed on each side. There were
famous people of the revolution including famous woman.

Chapter 1
Causes of the revolution

There were many causes of the American Revolution including the Boston Tea
Party, the Stamp Act, and the Boston Massacre. The Boston Tea Party took
place on December 16, 1773 and lasted from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Over
90,000 pounds (or 45 tons) of tea were dumped into the Boston Harbor.
Another cause of the Revolution was the Boston Massacre took place actually
before the Boston Tea Party on March 5, 1770. The Boston Massacre started
a group of colonists started throwing snow chunks, sticks and, rocks and
shouting insults at a passing group of British soldiers. Then the British fired into
the Patriot mob, killing 5 and injuring 3. Another cause of the Revolution was
the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act unfairly taxed the American colonists by King
George ||| in 1765. The Stamp Act was said to pay a tax on printed materials
such as, newspapers, magazines, and regular paper. The Stamp Act was called
that because the colonies were supposed to by paper from Britain that had the
official stamp on it that showed that they had to pay the tax.

The Battle of  Brooklyn
The first battle of the Revolutionary War took  place in Brooklyn, New York in
1776, just eight weeks after the Declaration of Independence was signed. The
British had an army of 130 ships and about 32,000 men, while George
Washington a continental general, split his about 19,000
men up between Manhattan and Brooklyn, that was not a great idea because
George badly lost the battle. When the battle was over, many of his militiamen
left the militia. George Washington learned some valuable lessons that day.

The Battle of Lexington
The Battle of Lexington is one of the most famous battles in the Revolutionary
War, along with The Battle of Concord and The Battle of Bunker Hill. It was
also the first battle of the Revolutionary War. The Battle of Lexington only lasted
10 minutes but there were eight Rebels killed and ten were wounded. There
some gruesome deaths. One was when Jonathan Harrington was walking home
and was shot near his doorstep. He then crawls a few yards and dies in front of
his horrified wife and son. Another was when Jonas Parker was wounded, but
he still fired  his musket on the battle field until he is killed by a bayonet thrust.

The Battle of Concord

The Battle of Concord was a very famous battle in the Revolutionary War. The
battle was fought on April 19, 1775. The Patriots actually had
more strength in forces than the British. In the battle the Patriots only lost 49
soldiers and killed 73 Redcoats, the Patriots wounded 174 British soldiers and
the British wounded only 39 Patriots. Some of the Patriot leaders were John
Parker, James Barret, John Buttrick, William Heath, and Joseph Warren. Some
of the British leaders were, General Gage, Colonial Francis Smith, Major John
Pitcairn, and Hugh Percy. Even though the British captured 5 Patriots, the
Rebels captured 53 Redcoats.

Chapter 3
Famous  people of  the revolution

There were many famous people in the American Revolution including, John
Hancock, Sam Adams, John Adams, and George Washington. There were also
famous woman of the Revolution, like Deborah Sampson, Sybil Ludington and
Mary Otis Warren. George Washington was famous for two reasons. One
reason is that he was the first president of the United States, and the other
reason is that he was a general in the British army, but then he switched over to
the Rebels. There were also famous people on the British side such as
King George |||, John Malcom, and Joseph Brant.

Conclusion

In the end you can see that the Revolutionary War was a very big topic an
there was lots to write about. Many people died on both sides. But in the end,
