Introduction
You are Trembling in the courtroom, Everyone's
pointing at you, they think you are a witch. Pretty soon
they'll be hanging you and you'll be sentenced to
death. The Salem Witch Trials were a very frightening
time in American history.researchers say over
200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft and
20 people were put to their death.

Chapter 1. How it all happened

When did it start?
The Salem Witch Trials started in 1692.It was a
very scary time many people got killed for fake
accusations. For example; two little girls claimed to be
cursed by witches. Their names were Betty Parris who
was age 9 and Abigail Williams age 11.Image result for betty and abigail

Why did it start?
The two girls, Abigail and Betty, had fits such as
twitching, screaming, and crawling. Even their doctor
diagnosed that they were cursed by witches. Fear ran
rampant, villagers were freaked out, That's why the
trials started. Villagers were accusing person after
person because they thought they were witches.

Why did they have trials?
They  had trials because they thought that there
were witches in the village that were cursing people
and making them go crazy. This might be important
because none of the villagers were even witches, most
people were just accused of being witches, even
children.

Chapter 2. Are you sure what you know
is true?

You might think that the trials were Fair but they were
100% not fair. they would accuse people Without
even having solid proof. They were essentially tried in
the court of public opinion. Very unfair compared to
today's practice of being innocent until proven guilty.
These people were sentenced to death without ever
having any solid evidence.

You may also think that women were the only ones
that were accused of being witches, but that's
not the case. Men and Children were also accused
of being witches. Giles Corey was a man who was
accused of being a witch and was killed for it.
There were 14 women and 5 men who were also
killed. Kids even went to jail.

Chapter 3. Facing the consequences

The consequences and punishments were very harsh.
Giles Corey was accused and then was crushed to
death. He got tied to the ground with rope and then
they loaded rocks on top of him until he was dead. His
final words were “more weight”because it hurt so bad
that he wanted it to be over. Another punishment used
was an Iron machine with long sharp spikes that would
impale Through The body of the accused witch. Other
punishments were getting stretched on a rack, getting
their bodies forced into Hoops with their necks roped
to their feet, getting put into stocks and getting
cooked alive. Can you imagine some were being dipped
into hot oil and had their skin cut off? 0r they were
being whipped. Some people were even taken away
from their family and put into jail.Image result for salem witch trials chart

Conclusion

The Salem Witch Trials were very frightening as you
very well know now. You could be sentenced to death,
you could be tortured, and or you could be taken away
from your family. THIS WAS NOT FAIR!!!
Witchcraft was known “the devil’s magic”. It was a
terrible time to live in Salem whether you were a
witch or not.
