Peter’s Chair:
A story of belongings

Sometimes in my life, I am too attached to my belongings. In the
book Peter’s Chair Peter is too attached to his belongings. Peter
is too attached to his belongings because he overreacts when he
sees his stuff get painted, he takes some of his stuff when he
runs away, and most of all, because he runs away.

One reason that Peter is too attached to his belongings is that
Peter overreacts when he sees his stuff get painted for his
sister. For example, Peter whispered, “That’s my high chair it got
painted pink”. He looks angry in the picture. He also didn’t want
people to hear him. He also said loudly, “That’s my cradle! They
painted it pink”! And lastly he said, “My crib. It’s painted pink
too.” (He muttered). Peter looks sad and a bit angry in the
pictures. These are reasons of why Peter overreacts when he
sees his stuff get painted for his sister.

Another reason that Peter is too attached to his belongings is
that Peter takes some of his stuff with him when he runs away.
For example, Peter takes a picture of him as a baby and Peter
takes his blue chair with him. Peter also takes is his toy crocodile
with him. Here is the quote, “We’ll take my blue chair, my toy
crocodile, and the picture of me when I was a baby.” These are
examples of how Peter takes some of his stuff with him when
he runs away.

Although Peter is too attached to his belongings because he
takes some of his stuff with him when he runs away and because
he overreacts when he sees his stuff get painted for his sister,
it is especially true that Peter is too attached to his belongings
because Peter runs away with some of his belongings. The first
piece of evidence is Peter sees his old blue chair and said, “They
didn’t paint that yet!” Peter takes the chair with him. Peter ran
away because he didn’t want his blue chair to get painted for his
little sister so he took it with him. Another piece of evidence is
Peter said, “Let’s run away.” And the last Piece of evidence is
Peter said, “We’ll take my blue chair”. These are examples of why
Peter runs away.

Peter is a bit too attached to his belongings. He is also a bit
greedy with his stuff too. I am too attached to these blankets
I got when I was a baby and I didn’t want to let go of them.
Maybe someday we could all learn a lesson to maybe not be too
attached to our belongings.
