2. Smoking
Tobacco is illegal to sell to minors. If you are not the
age requirement witch is 18 or older than that you
Cannot buy it. There are a whopping 200 hundred known
chemicals in cigarettes, I wonder have much more there
are in cigarettes? Cigarettes have nicotine in them they
are a very powerfully addictive substance that makes you
want more and more of it. When you smoke it makes your
teeth yellow, causes very bad breath and makes your skin
dry witch wrinkles the skin. Also chewing tobacco or
smoking cigarettes can cause mouth cancer, tooth loss and
other serious health problems. Sadly more than 400,000
Americans die per year from tobacco related illnesses.
3.Alcohol
Alcohol is illegal for everyone under 21. Alcohol
slows down the brain which can cause loss of
coordination, poor judgement, memory loss, and slow
reflexes. There are more than 75,000 alcohol related
deaths a year. Do not mix alcohol with medicine it is
very dangerous for you. When people drink alcohol it
can go directly into the bloodstream causing damage
to important organs. Alcohol has been known to weaken
heart muscles which eventually reduces the amount of
blood by the heart.

4. How is this going to help me
in the future?
in the future?
Learning dare is going to help me in the future
because it is teaching me valuable lessons about
drugs and alcohol. Dare has taught me about the
harmful effects these substances have on our bodies
and how I can resist them. Knowing how to make
responsible choices and how to avoid substances is
great to know especially as I am getting older and
becoming a teen. Learning how to avoid peer pressure
by elevating my decisions is also a great skill to
know when avoiding drugs.

5.The Before and after be for learning DARE
Before I learned DARE I didn't know anything about drugs
and tobacco or peer pressure. After Officer Tibbals came
in to teach us about DARE I now know a whole lot more.
Before DARE I didn't know about what drugs and other
substances can do to your body let alone how to resist
them. I understand now that becoming addicted to anything
will harm your life and can even kill you. Now knowing how
truly dangerous these drugs are I feel ready to make smart
decisions about avoiding drugs and peer pressure.

6. Peer pressure
Peer pressure is when your family and friends pressure
you into doing something you don't really want to do.
Peer pressure for example can be when someone has
cigarettes and offers then to you when you don't feel
comfortable doing them. You might feel pressure to
take the cigarettes to feel cool or fit in but you
must resist the urge. If you ever get into these
situations you can make an excuse for example.
Perhaps say that you have to get picked up for
something and then leave. Making excuses and leaving
is a great way to get out of a situation you don't
feel comfortable with.

7. Bullying
A bully is when someone hits you everyday or calls
you things that are not nice to say to someone that
can hurt someone's feelings. Also telling and
tattling are two different things telling is when so
no one gets hurt or someone hurts someone. Tattling
is when you tell on someone because you do not like
them or just to get them in trouble.

8.Resistance Strategies
They are different ways to say no to a substance. For
example if someone comes up to you and says do you
want a cigarette you could say I have to hang out with
my friends right now and I'm late but we can later
and then you never show up. Or you could just
say no or you could try changing the subject.

9.Conclusion
My point is that DARE is a great learning tool that
will help me now and in the future. I hope it will
also help me learn about what the bad things are so I
won't make poor decisions. I am glad I got this
opportunity to do this.
