 The day I got my hearing aid

I stared at my white blank paper as it sat on my desk. My teacher was
walking over to yell at me THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN………………………………….

 “May I please have Ciara for dismissal, please.’’ said the girl on the
speakers.

 ‘’Ok!’’ said Miss Swanson. At that moment, my stomach dropped. It was
worse than getting yelled at. Today was the day I was getting my hearing
aid.

I started to pack all my things together but I did it very very slowly. One step,
two steps, three steps. When I got to the bottom of the stairs there was my
mom with her car keys in her hand and a smile on her face. She asked me, ´´
What took so long?´´

Meanwhile,I shrugged. And then we were off for the 30 minute drive to
the doctor that I don't even want to go to. But I stayed strong because I
remember when my nana told me that in order to succeed in life you have
to be strong no matter what.

I was so nervous but I was not so sure why... maybe it was because I was
worried that people would make fun of me. Or maybe it was because of that
feeling when you do something for the first time...or maybe it was because I was
hungry!

We parked into a lot that had only about one car in it. Two minutes later,
we got in the waiting room, and my sister and I sat in the back corner of
the room. ´´Are you ok?´´said my sister Riley.

´´I'm fine´´ I said lying.

When my mom came over with a clipboard in her hand she said, ´´Why
don't you go to a light, airy place?´´ Without talking, we got up and went
over to where she was pointing at.

20 minutes later, the doctor came to take me into the room. My parents
were talking and they seemed like they liked the doctors company! I think
it was all in his plan.  They talked for what felt like an hour, but in reality
was only 10 minutes. When they stopped talking for a second, the doctor
cut in. ‘’Would you like to try it on, Ciara?’’

‘’ Fine,’’ I said.

He put my hearing aid in my palm. I took a big breath. I studied it for a
few seconds. It was blue, weird looking and cool, BUT NOT!!!!!!!!

I took the weird looking thing up to my a ear and put the hearing aid in. ´´
It fits,´´ I said, wishing and praying that it would not fit me. I took the
hearing aid off and put it in its box.  A few minutes later we were in the
car heading to dinner in the dark night. It was pitch black outside. It was
like the darkness in space. I held onto the box, relieved that the
appointment was over, but still dreading the next day.

The next day………………………….

I got on the bus and headed to my seat with my 4 best friends.The others
were on a different bus. They all mean the world to me.  ´´Hey, I saw
that you got your hearing aid. I like it,´ ´’said Ella.

´´Me too!´´ said Caroline.

´´Çount me in,´´yelled Zoriana.

´´I love it!´´ said Arianna, in a soft but kind way. I felt so great when all
my friends said they liked my hearing aid. I felt like a new person. I felt
like someone just winning an Oscar. Then I thought to myself, maybe having
a hearing aid is not too bad after all. And from that day on I loved my
hearing aid; it was like a new family member. You don't like them at first
but when you get older, you love them so so much.
