I have found that even though they are not humans, some dogs can treat people like they
are a brother or sister. My Mimi and Pa’s dog, Bailey is one of those dogs that makes you
feel like you are a doggy sibling. Bailey is smart, lovable, and very greedy (for his cookies,
of course.) Bailey is a quirky dog, and an important part of my life.

One reason I think Bailey is a quirky dog and a special part of my life is because he is a
smart Silky Terrier. He is smart because he never has a stink about getting in the bath. He
just goes in it, which is smart because most dogs put up a fight because they are afraid of
water, but not Bailey! Another reason Bailey is a smart dog is because he is 14 in human
years, and 70-something in dog years. So, because he is an old man, he chooses NOT to
go in the pool. He probably  doesn’t go in the pool because it is deeper and scarier than
bathtub. This shows me that Bailey is smart. My last reason that I think Bailey is a
smart dog is that he can tell when me and my brother, Leo are coming. He can sense it
when my Mimi is tidying up the bedrooms. When we come, he knows he was right. He
jumps up and down like crazy when he sees us. This is also a smart action because it
shows he has feelings. Although Bailey isn’t a big dog, he is a pretty smart one.

My second reason why I think Bailey is a quirky dog and a special part of my life is
because he is a lovable dog. One reason he is lovable is because he does this “hugging”
thing. When he hugs me, he wraps his front legs around my arm. It is so cute, but sadly,
my Mimi yells at him. She yells at Bailey because she thinks I don't like the hug, but I
actually LOVE it.  My second reason why I believe Bailey is lovable is because when you
start petting him and he really loves you, he’ll let you give him a belly-rub. If he lets
someone give him a belly rub, it means he loves you. My final reason why I believe
Bailey is lovable is that every time anyone comes to their door, he is usually
enthusiastic on finding new friends. He jumps and tries to protect, but he winds up in
the arms of friends. He is very lovable and friendly.

My third reason I think Bailey is a quirky dog and a special part of my life is that he is a
greedy dog. One thing he does is that EVERY morning that I am at my Mimi and Pa’s
house is he ALWAYS wants a dog cookie. He prefers Doggy Cookies instead of dry dog
kibble, and this is not a healthy preference. He is so used to having plain pancakes
every day on top of the cookie and unwanted kibble, that he  always expects it. My
second reason that I know Bailey is a greedy dog is that when me and Leo come, he
hogs us and wants us all to himself. Whenever we come to the door, he gets his toys
and drops them at our feet. This is a signal that shows he wants to play. We play with
him before we even say hi to Mimi and Pa. Although Bailey is greedy, he is still a good
dog.

Now, I hope you realize that Bailey is a quirky dog and a special part of my life. He is a
smart, lovable, and greedy dog. I love him, so I want to spend as much time as I can
with him.  I wish I could see him every day!
