Introduction
Are you good at math? If you are bad just read this
book and you will be the best at math. Maybe you
will want to learn more about math and go to a
school that is just math so you can get good at it.

Division vs.
Multiplication
Division and multiplication are very different.
One way they are different is that in division
you get a smaller number as your answer and
in multiplication you get a bigger number. For
example, five times five is twenty-five and
twenty-five divided by five is five.

Another way they are different is that division
starts with a total and starts multiplication with
a part, so division starts with a big number and
multiplication starts with a small number, like
five times five and thirty divided by five. As
you can see nothing is the same.

Finding x
In algebra x can be any number.
x-20-5-5=60,add 30 to each side because
20+5+5=30,you add them because they are
subtraction and you are subtracting them one at a
time to x. You add 30 to each side to only get x.
You add instead of subtract because you want to
do the opposite because you want to only get x, so
the opposite of subtraction is addition, the opposite
of addition is subtraction, the opposite of division
is multiplication, the opposite of multiplication is
division. Now you add 30 to each side so it would
be x=90. So you have your answer.
If you get something like 5x+90=190.
This problem has more steps. 5x is like x added
5 times. So you subtract 90 from each side to
isolate the unknown so it will be 5x=100.You
want to find x not 5x. So you do 100 divided by
5=20 so x=20.

If you get a problem like 6x times 5=300.
Divide 5 from each side so it will be 6x=60.
60 divided by 6=10. x=10. As you can see x can
be any number.

Area and Perimeter
Area and perimeter mean different things and you
solve them differently. Area is the measurement of
the space inside a shape and you put units and a
small 2 at the top of units, that means units square.
Perimeter is the total distance around a shape and
you put units at the end at the answer. If you get a
problem to find the area like a rectangle that the
width is 7 and the length is 6. You would do
6 times 7 to get the area so 6 times 7 = 42 units
square. So the area of the rectangle is 42 units
square. If you get a problem to find perimeter like
a rectangle with a width of 9 and a length of 8. You
would do 8+8+9+9=34. So the perimeter is 34
units. As you can see area and perimeter have
different meaning and solved differently.

Strategies for big
problems
There are different ways to solve problems that use
larger numbers.
If you get a division problem that ends in 0 then
you take away the 0 and divide the two numbers
and what every you get you put a 0 at the end. For
example 240 divided by 3 take the 0 away which is
24 divided by 3= 8 so add a 0 to 8 which is 80 of
240 divided by 3 = 80. Another way to solve big
problems is that when you are multiplying with a
number that ends in 0 you just take away the 0 and
myplaycity then you add a 0 at the end of the
answer. For example 3 times 80 take away the 0, 3
times 8 =24 add 0 to the answer 240 so 3 times
80= 240.
When you multiply with big numbers you can use
the area model. You draw a rectangle, cut the
rectangle into the number of digits in the bigger
number like 723 you cut the rectangle into 3 parts
because the number 723 has 3 digits. Then you
write the number in expanded form, like 723 in
expanded form is 700+20+3 so you put that over
the rectangle. Each number in expanded form has
its own box like 700 should be on top of the first
box. Then you write the smaller number on the
left side of the rectangle. Then you put a
multiplication sign in the top left corner of the
rectangle. Then you can use this to a problem,
like 578 times 7 so you do 500 times 7= 3,500,
70 times 7= 490, 8 times 7= 56. Add all them up
490+56+3,500= 4,046 so 578 times 7= 4,046. You
can solve big problems different ways.

Now you know how to do math. You know finding
x, doing big problems, area and perimeter. You can
tell all your friends how to do this kind of math.
