D.A.R.E  Essay

Do you know that there are more than one ways of bullying? I didn't.
Then I had my first D.A.R.E class.

One type of bullying is Cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is when you use the
internet to make fun of someone. This can be in texts or Instagram, or  Snapchat,
or other social media. A second type of bullying is gossip (this happens in
schools a lot). This is when someone spreads rumors about someone else.
This can be about what he/she wore, or how they look. Next is verbal bullying.
That is when someone says something bad to the other person, such as “hey
stupid,” or “hey ugly”. The last type of bullying is physical bullying. This is when
someone punches or hits another person.

This is what the D.A.R.E decision making model stands for:  Define, Assess,
Respond, Evaluate. Define is when you describe the problem. Assess is when
you think of all your options. Respond is when you decide what to do. Evaluate
is when you check if you have made the right choice.

I have used the D.A.R.E decision making model when my friend was left out.
First, I Defined that my friend was being excluded from playing football at
recess. The group of kids where not letting him play. Then I Assessed my
options that I could do nothing, or talk to the group of kids so that he could play
football. I responded by talking to the group of kids. And I Evaluated that my
friend was playing football with the group, so I knew that I made the right
choice.

In D.A.R.E class, I learned about handling bullying, and also drugs. I plan to
use the D.A.R.E decision making model in two ways. First, is to not make the
wrong decisions, like going to a party with drugs. Second, is to get out of a bad
situation, like if someone asks me if I wanted drugs.

In conclusion, I will use the D.A.R.E decision making model for the rest of
my life. If you are doing drug or being a bully, Stop Now!!!
