The Boston Tea Party
During The Boston Tea Party, colonists dressed up as Native Americans,
snuck onto three tea ships and dumped (in all) 342 chests of tea into The
Boston Harbor. The ship carrying the tea was delayed because they
didn't pay for the tea tax. And if you don’t pay the tea tax, you could be
punished or be killed.

Chapter 2: Important Parts of the War
The Battle of Lexington
The British went to Lexington to capture Samuel Adams and John Hancock.
The British were not successful because Paul Revere warned everyone that
the British were coming. When the British arrived, Samuel Adams and
John Hancock had already left. There were about 80 militia, but there were
about 700 British soldiers. The Battle of Lexington was not a big fight, but
because of the confusion, a firearm went off and caused the British to attack
the militia. This caused the start of the Revolutionary War.

The Battle of Bunker Hill
The battle occurred on June 17,1775.2,200 British soldiers lead by Major
General William Howe landed on the Charlestown Peninsula then marched to
Breed’s Hill. As the British advance in columns against the American troops,
Captain Prescott, tried to save as much ammunition as they could the American
limited supply of ammunition, reportedly told his men “Don’t fire until you see the
whites of their eyes!” This meant he did not want them to shoot until they were
close enough to hit. But, the American troops lost the Battle of Bunker Hill.

Chapter 3: The End of the War
The end of the war ended when The Treaty of Paris was signed by Great Britain
and the United States on September 3, 1783. The Treaty of Paris got its name
from where the treaty was negotiated in Paris,France. The representatives from
the United States at the negotiation of the treaty were Benjamin Franklin,
John Adams, and John Jay, the former governor of New York. David Hartley
was representing the king of Britain at the negotiation. It took over a year for
both the United States and Britain to ratify the treaty. Two main things that Britain
agreed to letting the United States to be free and independent. They were also
allowed to expand the colonies. There were other treaties with France, the Dutch
Republic, and Spain because they were also a part of the war. Spain was given
Florida as a part of its treaty.

This painting of the treaty was never finished because
the British refused to pose in the picture.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Revolutionary War was the most famous war in history.
The events leading up to it proved that the colonists wanted independence
and freedom. It was a challenge because both the British and the colonists
fought hard in battle to win the war. Finally, the war last nearly eight years and
by the end it seemed that both sides just wanted it to be over. Why do you
think it took them eight years to end this awful war?
