Terrifying Tigers!
Tigers have interesting physical characteristics. Did you know that no
other animal in the world has the tiger’s unique orange body with black stripes!
The stripes are vertical on the body and horizontal on the legs and tail. All tigers
have their own stripes, they are all different just like snowflakes. Most tigers are
orange with black stripes and have a pale stomach. Some tigers are white with
black stripes and some are golden with cinnamon stripes. All tigers have black
ear backs. “Tigers have long stiff whiskers. Did you know that when a whisker
touches something, it bends. The nerves around the follicle feel the pressure
and pass a signal to the tigers brain. Because of this, they can feel there whole
way around the forest in pitch darkness.” - Amy-Jane Beer Title - Tigers page

Lion vs Tiger
Lions and tigers can be very different and very similar at the same time.
They are both large cats and mammals.Tigers and lions are both carnivores
which means they eat meat. Tigers and lions live in Asia and India and they
camouflage. These two large cats are almost exactly the same cat. Tigers and
lions are different in some ways, too. Tigers can leap far but lions can not.
Tigers live alone while lions live in prides. Tigers are orange and black while
lions have yellow-brown fur. Tigers live in China, Boutan, and Siberia but lions
life in Africa. One other difference is that tigers are more fierce than lions when
fighting. One final difference is that tigers are bigger cats than lions. That is how
tigers and lions are different and the same.

The Problem with Tigers
Tigers have been having a serious problem lately. Tigers are endangered.
Fewer than 4,000 tigers live in the wild. People in China are and using their fur
for rugs. Tigers are also used for different medicines in China. Tigers are also
losing their habitat. Their population is around 3,890 tigers left in the wild.
People are clearing out the forests for buildings, roads, wood, and other stuff.
People are destroying tigers habitats, which is making their population go down.
To survive tigers need big areas with good water to drink, animals to eat, and
cover for hunting. Some organizations that are helping tigers are, Wildlife
conservation society, Paws, Gorilla doctors, Wildlife alliance, WWF, African
wildlife foundation, International fund for animal welfare, and world society for
the protection of animals. These organizations are giving the tigers a safe place
to live away from anyone to hunt them.
